Unheated Ruby and Antique Diamond Pendant (GIA), 18K g

Unheated Ruby and Antique Diamond Pendant (GIA), 18K g

With a very special old world charm, reminiscent of jewelry of the late Tsarist era, this 18K gold and diamond pendant features a rare, unheated/untreated ruby from the famed ruby mines of Tajikistan.

Ruby: 1.18 ct in weight, of a very rich and velvety purplish red, only very lightly included and thus very clean for ruby; entirely unheated/untreated; this is confirmed by a GIA laboratory report (see last picture) that also identifies the ruby's origin as Tajikistan; although rarely seen in modern jewelry, rubies have been mined in Tajikistan since early medieval times, which is why this ruby can be considered a true classic in the world of fine gemstones

Diamonds: 15 pieces in total; 14 old mine cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 0.65 ct; 1 larger old mine cut diamond with an approximate weight of 0.25 ct; total diamond weight is approximately 0.90 ct

Metal: 18K yellow gold, stamped accordingly and additionally tested by us; the metalwork of the pendant is very refined, showing the hand of a master goldsmith; all parts are hand fabricated from solid gold (i.e. not cast as customary with less valuable jewelry); note the details on the back of the pendant and the fine milgrain work on the bezel surrounding the larger single diamond

Very good vintage condition. Minor abrasions to some of the diamonds, commensurate with age.

The pendant will be delivered with the pictured matching 16 inch 18K gold cable chain. The chain is a modern addition made by us, and included in the purchase price.
