Mid-century platinum ring with Montana sapphire + diamonds

2,450.00

This fine mid-century platinum ring featuring an unheated, icy blue Montana sapphire would make a stunning engagement ring, but it is most suitable as a right hand ring as well. The origin of the sapphire from the United States makes it a patriotic statement piece.

Sapphire: 1.18 carat, 6.94 x 4.70 x 3.51 mm, color is a light but fiery ice blue, beautiful inclusions (typical "silk"), very well cut (emerald cut), 100% untreated/unheated, as per Gübelin report, which also attests the origin from Montana, USA

Diamonds: 2 baguette cut diamonds of approx. 0.10 ct total carat weight

Metal: Platinum 900, tested in our atelier, faintly stamped "10% IRID" (90% platinum, 10% iridium, the most popular platinum alloy at that time...)

This post-war original dates from about 1950 and was very likely crafted in the United States. The sapphire is not original to the ring but a later, very well matching addition, probably as a replacement due to damage to the original center stone.

The ring is in a very good vintage condition. Currently ring size 8. Can be sized up or down, please inquire.
